This is the ML Accessories – Knightsbridge SF1200MBB screwless 10AX intermediate switch, a single intermediate switch on a matt black low profile plate with a black rocker.

You need an intermediate switch when you have three switches controlling one light, for example on the landing – there’s a switch at the bottom of the stairs, a switch at the top of the stairs, and one at the end of the landing.

In such a circuit what you need is a middle switch to be intermediate (for example the one at the top of the stairs) in order for all the switches to work properly.
